• Main Research Areas
  The major interests in basic research are focused on the pathogenesis of glomerular and tubulo-interstitial kidney diseases, the pathogenesis of progressive glomerulosclerosis, the molecular biology of the extracellular matrix, and the pathophysiology of diabetic nephropathy. The main topics in the clinical research field include the prevalence of kidney diseases in Korea, the analysis of factors of factors involved in persistent hematuria and proteinuria, the effect of cyclosporine in the treatment of nephropathy, the renal toxicity of cyclosporine, and the analysis of adequacy in dialysis patients.

  In addition, the institute has interdepartmental cooperative studies in the field of nephrology and has published a textbook this year to provide updated information for students, medical professionals and members of community.
