Main Research Areas
The institute for Environmental Research is composed of for main research areas; risk assessment, environmental analysis, environmental health engineering, environmental epidemiology.
Risk Assessment
Research it aimed at generating and developing technology for the control of environmental pollutants and hazardous chemicals which pose a threat to human health. It is divided into four parts: risk analysis, comparative risk analysis, risk perception and communication, and risk management.
Environmental Analysis
Environmental analysis provides basic analytical data of environmental pollutants to support other research areas and develops pre-treatment methods for samples. It is divided into three parts: general experimental, which analyses environmental pollutants using the standard method, instrumnetal analysis, which analyses trace pollutants using HPLC, AAS, GC/MSD etc, and the study of human exposure to biomarlcers of pollytants.
Environmental Health Engineering
The objective of this research is to develop reduction technology for risks caused by environmental pollutants. It has 3 tasks:identification of pollutants and exposure assessment, development of risk reduction methods and technology, and finally, development of management methods.
Environmental Epidemiology
Here, research abased on the scientific method assesses the relationship between environmental pollution and disease or the subsequent adverse health outcome in the general population.
