Research in Clinical Genetics is focused on the clinical application of genetic knowledge and molecular genetic tools. Since the department was founded in Sep., 2001, different molecular techniques for the diagnosis of genetic diseases have been established. Through this work, molecular mechanisms of disease have been investigated and compared with those of Western populations. Cancer genetics, especially molecular pathogenesis of gastrointestinal tumors, is another area of interest, and those results such as MSI(miscrosatellite instability) in different cancers are now applied at the clinic. therapy strategy mainly on diabetes is an another field of study.
Clinical research is also being conducted in order to develop new techniques for prenatal screening and phenotypic classification of different anomalies which need to be corrected by surgery.
