Dong-Eun Medical Museum is a specialized museum for the history of Western and Traditional medicine in Korea. The museum was named after the pseudonym of the donator Kim, Choong-shik. He donated immense farmland in 1947 for the Severance Union Medical College, the forerunner of Yonsei University College of Medicine. The museum was opened in 1976 at the Medical Library of Yonsei University and present museum was reopened in January of 2000. The Yonsei University College of Medicine has been taking much efforts to preserve its history and to collect medical books, instruments and documents of historical importance. The museum has laid a special emphasis upon the history of the introduction of Western medicine into Korea. In addition, the museum possesses a good number of articles concerning thr Korean traditional medicine and a part of the collection is also on display.
The Dong-Eun Medical Museum will continue to increase its collections and hopes to become an institute to contribute to the study of history of Korean medicine.
